A clear, water-compatible system built from natural biopolymers and biomimetic structures. HydroSal® helps active ingredients adhere to the skin surface and releases them gradually, for longer-lasting performance and a pleasant feel on application.
The goal
Many active ingredients do their job on the skin surface: fragrance, moisturizers, antiseptics, cooling agents. Applied free, they evaporate, rinse away or fade quickly. HydroSal® is designed to hold them on the surface and keep releasing them.
The core
HydroSal® can carry hydrophilic and lipophilic active ingredients. In the Natural HydroSal® Moisturizer, for example, the core is a lipid blend of ceramides and fatty acids.
The shell
A hydrophilic shell of natural biopolymers, such as sodium polyglutamate, surrounds the core. It is compatible with water-based and hydro-alcoholic formulas, often clear, and helps the system adhere to the skin surface.
The surface
Rather than penetrating, HydroSal® forms a reservoir on the skin surface, so the active ingredient stays in contact with skin for longer.
The release
From that surface reservoir, the active ingredient is released over time. In Salvona testing of the Natural HydroSal® Moisturizer, skin hydration rose by up to 65% and stayed about 20% above baseline at 4 hours, and TEWL improved 25–34% versus control.
The format
HydroSal® blends into serums, lotions, gels, mists, sprays and other water-based and hydro-alcoholic systems.
